Who is number two in the Intelligence Bureau ?.Answer to this question is-none.One Special Director N C Padhi has gone to Orissa as DGP and another Special Director P K Mishra superannuated on July 1.Now 4, 1968 batch IPS Officers are waiting in the wings to get promotion which is unlikely in the near future. K P Singh is number one man in IB in the country.

M Shankar is taker

There was no taker for the post of Secretary Official Languages in the Government of India.The post which was lying vacant for the several months has finally got a taker in M Shankar 1967 batch IAS Officer of Haryana cadre. The post was earlier offered to Ashok Basak 1967 batch IAS Officer Maharastra cadre, Ashok Pradhan 1967 batch IAS Officer of UT cadre and Vinod Dhall 1966 batch IAS Officer Madhya Pradesh cadre.The three officers, however,politely declined the offer.

Chitra Chopra is new EO

Chitra Chopra has been appointed Establishment Officer in the Department of Personnel. She is 1969 batch IAS Officer of Rajasthan cadre. She has replaced K Rajendran Nair who has joined as Handloom Commissioner in the Ministry of Textiles.

Rao posted in Hyderabad

C S Rao, 1967 batch IAS Officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre has been promoted to the rank of Secretary. He has been posted in Hyderabad to head National Institute of Rural Development.

Centre and TamilNadu heading for confrontation

Government of India is in a mood to invoke rule 6(2) of the Indian Police cadre service rules to secure the services of R Rajgopalan from the TamilNadu Government. Rajgopalan had been appointed DG National Security Guards (NSG), but the TamilNadu Government has refused to relieve him. Rajgopalan was the DG Police during the DMK regime. Now one can only keep fingers crossed.

Promotions in Custom this month

1976 batch officers are being promoted as Commissioner in the Customs. An approved list of the officers is now lying with the Central Board of Excise and Customs.Official orders are being issued this month. A couple of 1977 batch officers may also be promoted.

IAS changes in Haryana

Sant Kumar has been appointed Director and Joint Secretary Food and Civil Supplies.Deepak Tayal will be SDM Jhajjar and Supravin Kumar SDM Laharu.

Tobacco Board reconstituted

Commerce Ministry has reconstituted the Tobacco Board for a period of three years. Dr P Dayachari has again been appointed as the Chairman of the Board.

Uplenchwar to replace Jha

Arvind Uplenchwar will take over as Director (Pipelines) in the Indian Oil Corporation. He will replace SN Jha who is retiring this month

Dangwal is DG Jails Madhya Pradesh

S P Dangwal has been promoted to the rank of DG in Madhya Pradesh. Dangwal who is 1966 batch IPS Officer has been made DG Jails.He has replaced V P Singh who retired on July 31.

Chaudhry repatriated

R C Chaudhry has been repatriated to the parent Kerala cadre .The 1967 batch IAS Officer was posted in Hyderabad as Director General of National Institute of Rural Development.
