Election Commission and IAS

Rules do not apply in the Election Commission of India as far as central deputation tenure rules are concerned.The ECI has four officers from the IAS in its strength.This does not include the CEC J M Lyngdoh who is a former IAS Officer of 1961 batch and one of the EC's B B Tandan who is from 1965 batch .Surprisingly all four of them are working in ECT on deputation in relaxation of rules.
Subas Pani Orissa 1972 is Deputy Election Commissioner since November 1995.His five-year term got over in 2000.Now he has already availed one-year extension is on further extension.
Sayan Chatterjee,Kerala 1976 has been working as Deputy Election Commissioner since July 1996.His 5 year term is over and he is on one year extension.
Shailender Mendiratta ,Assam-Meghalaya 1981 was brought to Delhi in 1998 for one year only in relaxation of his cooling off requirement.One year got extended from time to time and to promote him from Director to Deputy Election Commissioner level,a post was created in the Commission.
Ajay Jha ,Manipur-Tripura 1982 was brought in as Principal Secretary in 2000 again in relaxation of his cooling off requirement.Waiting to be promoted as Joint Secretary and become another Deputy Election Commissioner.

Two IAS Officers to join Uttranchal Government

Uttar Pradesh cadre 1985 batch IAS Officer P K Mohanty and Manipur-Tripura cadre 1985 batch IAS Officer Sanjeev Chopra are going on deputation to the Uttranchal Government.They are joining Uttranchal Government in Januaray.

Chhatisgarh IPS Officers to return Madhya Pradesh

A couple of Chhatisgarh cadre IPS Officers are now set to return parent Madhya Pradesh cadre soon.Government of India has responded favourably to a representation made by an IPS Officer.If orders are issued some IPS Officers of Madhya Pradesh cadre will be asked to go to Chhatisgarh.

Shrivastava joins CRPF

G M Shrivastava 1973 batch IPS Officer of Assam cadre has joined as Inspector General of Police in the CRPF.

Balasubramanyam to be DPR Andhra Pradesh !

S M Balasubramanyam,1977 batch IAS Officer is likely to be appointed Director Public Relations in Andhra Pradesh. He is currntly MD of State Trading Corporation.

Punjab Government acting on the advice of Elecion Commission has removed Deputy Commissioner Muktsar K J S Cheema.Rahul Bhandari will look after the charge.

Delhi High Court has dismissed a petition by former CEO of the Prasar Bharti S S Gill challenging his dismissal from the post.

Election Commission has stalled promotions of two Punjab cadre IPS Officers Rohit Chaudhry and IPS Sahota.Two Officers had been promoted to the rank of DIG two days ago

Narayan to be new ACS Gujrat

Ashok Narayan will be the new additional chief secretary, home department,Gujrat. an announcement is likely to be made later on friday. Narayan , who has written books on Hindu mythology , is currently the managing director of Gujarat mineral development corporation. he will replace V V R Subbarao who retires on December 31.
