Bureaucratic reshuffle after Indo-Pak summit

Bureaucratic reshuffle in the Government of India will now take place only after the Indo-Pak summit. About half a dozen Secretary level posts are to be filled. Some Secretaries will also be changed in the reshuffle.

Ashok Pradhan's `No'

Grapevine has it that Ashok Pradhan has declined the proposal to join the Government of India as Secretary Official Languages. Pradhan is 1967 batch IAS Officer of the UT cadre.

Selection grade to 4 IPS Officers in UP

Four-IPS Officers Messrs: Bhavesh Kumar, Mukul Goyal, Rajendra Pal Singh and Virendra Kumar have been given selection -grade in Uttar Pradesh.

IAS reshuffle in Assam

A major IAS Reshuffle has taken place in Assam. Biren Dutta will be new Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development.Hasan Ali has been made Secretary Health and Family Welfare.Sumit Jerath Secretary Power has been given additional charge of the Administrator Guwahati Municipal Corporation.Secretary Fishery B K Gohain will also look after Revenue.Deepak Kumar Sarma Das will be new Commissioner Guwahati Municipal Corporation.Ms Sayedian Abbasi, Jones Ingti Kathar and Gayatri Baruah will be Additional Secretaries Agriculture, Excise and Tourism respectively. Swananil Baruah has been made Joint Secretary GAD.Dilip Kumar Baruah will be Director Employment. Mrs Nilufar Alam Hazarika has been shifted as Director Research for Tribal and SC.Seven new Deputy Commissioners have also been posted. They are: Ashish Kumar Bhutani Kokarjhar District, Sanjay Lohia Sonitpur,Shantanoo Thakur Darrang,Ganesh Kumar Kalita Bongaigaon,Pradip Kumar Das Cachar, Rajesh Prasad Barapeta and Prasanta Baruah Dhubri District.

Ratudi Uttaranchal IPS Association President

Prem Dutt Ratudi has been elected President of the Uttranchal IPS Association. Ms Satyavrat Bansal, L P Mishra, Anil Kumar Ratudi , Jeevan Chandra Pande and Sanjay Gunyal are the executive members.

IAS changes in Punjab

Additional Secretary Finance V K Meena has been posted as Additional Deputy Commissioner Ferozpur.Special Secretary Agriculture Ashok Kumar has been given additional charge of the Director Agriculture.

Natrajan promoted in Karnataka

B Natrajan an Indian Forest Service Officer has been promoted to the rank of Principal Chief Conservator Forest in Karnataka. He has been appointed Chairman of State Forest Industries Corporation.

Pradhan shifted to Holland

Deputy High Commissioner in Nigeria Pradhan has been transferred to Holland. His replacement has not been announced.

Dena Bank Chief to continue

Chairman of the Dena Bank A G Joshi has been allowed to continue till March next. Joshi who was in Delhi for two days and held meetings with the Banking Minister Bala Saheb Vikhe Patil besides,Banking Secretary Devi Dayal.

Why delay in Cabinet Secretary's case ?

So far there is no official communication about granting extension to the Cabinet Secretary T R Prasad, though the Union Cabinet has already given a nod for the same. In fact service rules do not provide for an extension to one ,beyond 60 years of age . Now the Government has shot letters to all the state governments for the much needed `consultation' in this matter. Even if the states do not fall in line , Prasad is sure to continue till October 2002.After all the NDA Government has a big support of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu.
