D P Bagchi to be Secretary Personnel?

Chief Secretary of Orissa D P Bagchi is likely to be the next Secretary Personnel in the Government of India.Minister of State Vasundhara Raje Scindia has requested the Prime Minister to appoint Bagchi as her Secretary in place of B B Tandan who is joining the Election Commission next month.The 1966 batch IAS officer Bagchi and Vasundhara Raje Scindia have worked together earlier also.

A V Singh appointed Special Secretary

Uttaranchal Chief Secretary A V Singh has been appointed Special Secretary Defence. The 1967 batch IAS officer Singh has been specially brought in the Ministry by Defence Minister Jaswant Singh to look after the newly created Defence Procurement Board.Both hail from Rajasthan.

Dr R Padmanabhan has been appointed Chairman of the Pondicherry Society for the care of aged. He is 1973 batch IAS officer of the UT cadre.

Ashutosh Gupta has been appointed Director Public Relations Rajasthan Government. He is 1989 batch IAS officer.

Shrivastava appointed CBDT Chairman

Finally O P Shrivastava has been chosen for the post of Chairman Central Board of Direct Taxes.He will take over from A Balasubramaniam due to retire on July 31.This is for the first time that appointment orders have been issued two months in advance.

Saikia in US

Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister's office Ashok Saikia is currently in the United States. He is expected to be back on June 2. The trusted bureaucrat of the Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, Saikia has gone to the United States with all the relevant papers to meet Dr Chitranjan Ranawat who is set to fly to India to operate upon Atalji's right knee.

Paul new AIR Engineer-in-Chief

M Paul has taken over as Engineer-in-Chief of All India Radio. He is 1969 batch offiocer of Indian Broadcast Engineering Service.

Kahlon may join SEBI

C S Kahlon may join the SEBI.He is currently IT Commissioner (Appeals) Mumbai.In SEBI he may head the investigations, enforcement and surveillance wing.

Shankar will be new Chief Secretary Tamil Nadu

Union Petroleum Secretary P Shankar will be the new Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu. Finally the Chief Minister Jayalalitha has chosen the 1966 batch IAS officer Shankar to head the state bureaucracy. He is expected to take over on July 1.
