Somi Tandan new Additional Secretary Defence

Somi Tandan is the new Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Defence. She has replaced L M Mehta who has been shifted to the Planning Commission.Tandan is 1967 batch officer of the Indian Railway Accounts Service.

Shastry will be new JS Commerce

M V P C Shastry will replace Bharat Bhushan as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce this month end.Shastry is 1977 batch IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre. Bharat Bhushan a 1979 batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre has completed his tenure

Shankar to take over on June 1

Union Petroleum Secretary P Shankar is taking over as the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu on June 1. Initially reluctant Shankar has finally agreed to the proposal of the Chief Minister Jayalalitha to head the state bureaucracy. The 1966 batch IAS Officer will take charge from Muthuswami.

Five more 1966 batch IPS Officers empanelled

Five more 1966 batch IPS officers including the Chhatisgarh DGP R L S Yadav have been empanelled to the rank of Director General in the Government of India.Namaes of two Madhya Pradesh cadre officers Ms Dinesh Jugran and S P Dangwal and one each from Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal figure in the list. With this inclusion total number of empanelled officers of this batch has risen to 23.

Chargesheet against 9 Railway officials

The CBI has chargesheeted 9 officials of the Northern Railway. They have been accused in the cases of fraud,cheating and corruption.

IPS officer to fight legal battle

Manas Chakravorty the senior most police officer in West Bengal has decided to fight legal battle against his supersession. The West Bengal Government has appointed Dinesh Vajpayee as the new DGP bypassing three others .Chakravorty is currently DG Home Guards. Other two-IPS officers who have been bypassed are Kali Bandhopadhyay and R K Sharma.
