Joint Secretaries and Delhi

IAS Officers to the rank of Joint Secretaries have these days developed a penchant for being posted in Delhi.Out of some 500 aspirants, the Government of India is not even in a position to accommodate more than 50. One senior secretary in the GOI said that they were so crazy to be in Delhi that posting has become immaterial for them and they were prepared to accept any post -may be even on the streets of the national capital.

Ample OSD's in IT

Ample of Officers on Special Duty (OSD) in the all powerful Income Tax Department has brought in a situation wherein posting on the said post is now considered in the department as punishment posting. There are as many as 60 OSD's in the department at present.

P K Lahri a former 1959 batch IAS Officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre is man with a vision. Under his stewardship the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) has undergone a sea change. Lahri who is Secretary General of the INS has got details of all its members incorporated in a CD. In the era of internet one can access information about any of the INS members just at a click of a button. The entire INS building is also having a different look.

Nagrajan to be DMD IDBI

T M Nagrajan is being appointed Deputy Managing Director of the IDBI. He is currently senior most Executive Director of the IDBI.

Sudarshan Singhal out Alok Jain in !

Madhya Pradesh cadre 1978 batch IAS Officer Sudarshan Singhal seems to have lost the post of Senior Directing Staff ,National Defence College.Now Alok Jain 1974 batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS Officer is ahead in the race.Singhal who is on deputation to the Government of India is currently MD of Kendriya Bhandar. The post has been lying vacant for the last one month .

IPS Officer to be prosecuted !

Maharastra Government has sought permission of the Government of India to prosecute an IPS Officer A K Jain.The IPS Officer has been charged of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known source of income.

Defence University in Punjab

The Government of India has made up its mind to set up defence university in Punjab. This university would be first in the country and third in the world. Final touches for this project are now being given in the Defence Ministry .

Data bank is ready

Special Cell of the CBI set up recently to tackle bio-terrorism in the country is said to have created date bank on the activities of various terrorist groups. The Cell is headed by Additional Director Vijay Shankar.

New directive in UP

All district collectors have been asked to make regular night halts at other parts of their areas. Chief Secretary has also asked the officials to have direct dialogues with the people.
