Telecom Secretary Shyamal Ghosh is going to continue till May next. Well placed sources said that move to shift Gujarat cadre IAS Officer Ghosh has been dropped. Rumours to change Ghosh had been doing the round for the last three months.

Goel Calls the shots in Civil Aviation

With the Union Minister Shehnewaz Hussein gaining his grip in the Ministry, it is Joint Secretary Anurag Goel who has started calling the shots in the Civil Aviation. 1972 batch IAS Officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre Goel had been sidelined by the outgoing Civil Aviation Minister Sharad Yadav.

New Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has decided to continue S K Selat as Economic Advisor. Selat who is a former Chief Secretary had been appointed Economic Advisor by the outgoing Chief Minister Keshu Bhai Patel.

Five High Court Judges appointed

Five new judges have been appointed to the Bombay High Court.They are: Ms Dilip Ganesh Karnik, Jaiprakash Pursappa Devadhar, Rajiv Shyamrao Mohite, Kanade Vidyasagar Murlidhar and Naresh Harish Chandra Patil.

Silver Jubilee get-together

To mark the completion of 25 years in public service 1976 batch IAS Officers are going to have a get-together on October 21 in Delhi. This was the batch, which saw the Emergency Days close on the heels of their entry in Civil Services. Vijay Kumar of this batch who is Joint Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat is coordinating the show.

1981 batch IAS Officers are still PS

Believe it or not three 1981 batch IAS Officers in the country are still working as PS to the Union Ministers.While Suresh Panda of Orissa cadre is PS to Union Minister of State for Steel, Jagpal Singh Burjia and Arun Jha of Bihar cadre are PS to Union Coal Minister and Union Minister of State for Home respectively.

In a surprise move Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu removed DG Vigilance and Enforcement S C Dwivedi on Thursday. 1966 batch IPS Officer Dwivedi has not been given any other charge.H R Kataria has been asked to hold additional charge of Vigilance.

There is a move in Himachal Pradesh to appoint an IPS Officer as Commissioner of Simla Municipal Corporation. Currently the post is held by an Officer of HAS .
