Sanjay Kaul is being appointed Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Food and Public Distribution. He is 1979 batch IAS Officer of Karnataka cadre. The post has fallen vacant following the expiry of tenure of 1973 batch West Bengal cadre IAS Officer S C Brahma.

Major bureaucratic reshuffle likely

There is every likelihood of a major bureaucratic reshuffle at the center. This reshuffle is expected to take place before September 16 or soon after the return of the Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee from his foreign visit.About a dozen Secretary level changes will be effected. These changes will, however, take place only after the review meeting of the 1967 batch IAS Officers.

Three PIB offices to be abolished

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is reported to have decided to abolish Madurai, Kota and Nanded offices of the Press Information Bureau (PIB). Three new offices are being set up in the newly carved states of Chhatisgarh,Uttarnchal and Jharkhand.
