Irungalur Veeran Manivannan is being appointed Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Forests and Environment.He is 1972 batch IAS Officer of TamilNadu cadre.Union Forests and Environment Minister Balu is keen to have Manivannan as Joint Secretary.

Is Maharastra Government allergic to 1973 batch IAS?

It seems that Maharastra Government is allergic to 1973 batch IAS Officers. This is evident from the fact that the entire 1972 batch was promoted in one stroke on January1, 2000.Thereafter, no promotions have taken place. In other states, things are a lot better notably in Andhra Pradesh, where 1977 batch has been promoted. Even in states like UP and Bihar 1975 batch officers have been promoted.Those who are waiting in the wings in the state include P D Karandikar, J P Dange,Chandra Iyengar,V K Agrawal,V S Dhumal,R C Joshi,Satyabir Singh Dod,and Harnam Singh.Bagchi couple is on deputation to the Government of India.
