Will Subir Dutta replace Yogendra Narain ?

Grapevine has it that Subir Dutta will be next Defence Secretary. 1967 batch IAS officer Subir Dutta is currently Secretary Defence Production. Secretary Defence Yogendra Narain is superannuating on June 30.

Empanelment of 1968 batch IPS this week

Empanelment of 1968 batch IPS officers to the rank of Director General in the Government of India is expected to take place this week. Names of over two dozen officers of this batch are to be considered for beineg empanelled.

Bongirwar said "No" for Heavy Industries

Arun Bongirwar is not keen to join Government of India as Secretary Heavy Industries. If reports are to be believed Heavy Industries Minister Manohar Joshi had sent a proposal to 1966 batch Maharastra cadre IAS officer Bongirwar to join his Ministry as Secretary. Bongirwar however, did not show any inclination. The post is going to fall vacant this month end following the superannuation of Ravindra Gupta.

Where is the vacancy for Sarabjeet Singh ?

The Government of India is in a fix over the posting of outgoing Punjab Director General of Police Sarabjeet Singh.Former Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal being the NDA partner had built up pressure to adjust DGP during his regime Sarab Jeet Singh to the Centre.There is no vacancy for this 1965 batch IPS officer and now efforts are being made to appoint him as OSD in the PMO.

Race starts for the post of Secretary Revenue

With the rumours that Secretary Revenue S Narayan may join the Planning Commission after Swarn Singh Boparai,race has already started in the corridors of power. At least half a dozen 1966 and 1967 batch IAS officers have already started lobbying for this prestigious post.

Latest information says that Special Secretary Power Srinivasan Prabhakaran is being appointed Secretary Health in the Government of India. Earlier there were strong reports of his going to Home State Karnataka as Member (Finance) in ISRO.He is 1967 batch IAS officer of Maharastra cadre.

Cooling-off period reduced for Home

The Government of India has revised cooling-off period for IAS officers on deputation to Union Home Ministry. Normally,IAS officers are required to serve a three-year cooling-off period in their home cadres after serving a five year deputation at the Centre.Home Ministry has been made an exception where the government has reduced the cooling-off time to two years.

UP Home Secretary proceeds on leave

Uttar Pradesh Home Secretary Naresh Dayal has proceeded on a long leave. Now search is on for the replacement of 1972 batch IAS officer Naresh Dayal.
