26 IAS officers of 1971 batch empanelled Altogether 27 IAS officers belonging to 1971 batch have been empanelled to the rank of Additional Secretary in the Government of India. The list has reached to the Cabinet Secretary.Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee is expected to clear the file of empanelment in a week or two. Anjum Ghosh to join IOC Anjum Ghosh is being tipped to be the next Adviser (Security) Indian Oil Corporation. Ghosh is 1970 batch IPS officer of Jammu & Kashmir cadre. He would replace Raman Kackar who is back to parent Madhya Pradesh cadre after completion of his tenure. Hemendra Kumar to retire this month Special Secretary Agriculture in the Government of India, Hemendra Kumar, is retiring this month end. He is 1966 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. Move to deport Port Trust There is a serious move to shift the Port Trust Authority from Delhi to Mumbai in accordance with the wishes of the Shiv Sena Supremo, balasaheb Thackrey. It is not the IPS alone in which real brothers have been serving on highest positions, there are such examples in the IAS also. Take for instance the case of two Chief Secretaries who are real brothers. One is Harsh Gupta of 1966 batch serving as Chief Secretary Himachal Pradesh while the other is Madhukar Gupta of 1971 batch serving as Chief secretary Uttaranchal.
