Rakesh Bihari or Jawahar Thakur ?

Post of Joint Secretary and FA Ministry of Health in the Government of India has been lying vacant for the last three months. Why ?.Two Union Ministers Yeshwant Sinha and Thakur are keen to post their favourites on the post. While Finance Minister Yeshwant Sinha is supporting 1977 batch UT cadre IAS officer Rakesh Bihari,Health Minister Dr C P Thakur wants his man Jawahar Thakur ,an officer of Accounts Service to deployed on this post .Who will fill up the vacancy caused following the return of 1970 batch IAS officer Vijay Singh to the parent Madhya Pradesh cadre ? Now the ball is in the court of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.

Two 1981 batch IAS officers still waiting

Two 1981 batch IAS officers Jagpal Singh Burjia and Ajay Jha are still waiting in the wings to get promotion to the rank of Joint Secretary in the Government of India. Burjia and Jha are currently Private Secretaries of Union Ministers Ram Vilas Paswan and I D Swamy respectively.

There is an IPS officer of 1970 batch who is DGP. He is R R Prasad who has taken over as DGP of Jharkhand. There are several states where IPS officers of 1966, 1967 , 1968 and 1969 batch who are waiting to get promotions even to the rank of DG.

IPS promotions delayed in Gujarat

With the retirement of PL Jani as Rajkot range Inspector General of police on January 31, the eighth post of IG fell vacant in Gujarat police cadre while nine DIGs continue to wait for their promotions and postings since January 2000.Add to this the 12 superintendents of police who are waiting for their promotions .The promotions and postings of IPS officers are hanging fire for the last two years now. Interestingly, even the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee which was held in December last to promote five of the six officers of the 1986 batch, have yet to be implemented. The executive committee of the IPS Officers' Association formally met the new Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Ashok Narayan and pressed for the umpteenth time, for their promotions and postings.
