74 vacancies of Joint Secretary

There are altogether 74 vacancies to the rank of Joint Secretary in the Government of India this year. If DoP sources are to be believed over 500 IAS officers are aspiring to join the GOI.

Empanelment of 1981 batch IPS begins

Empanelment process of 1981 batch IPS officers to the rank of IG in the Government of India has begun. Altogether there are 66 IPS officers of this batch who are being considered for being empanelled.

10 officers shortlisted for ITDC post

Government of India has shortlisted names of ten IAS officers for the post of Chairman ITDC. Ashwin Lohani who was CMD is back to the parent Railway Service.

Majumdar and Bagchi to get promotion in CBI this month

A K Majumdar and D Bagchi are being promoted to the rank of Joint Director in the CBI most probably this month end. Both the officers are from the CBI cadre. While Majumdar is currently DIG CBI in Bhopal,Bagchi is on deputation to the Delhi Vidyut Board.

Pharang Roy elected Assistant President IFAD

A former IAS officer of Maharastra cadre Pharang Roy has been elected as Assistant President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) .Currently,he is Director for it's Asia Pacific Division in Rome. This is for the first time that an Indian has made it to the second highest job in this UN body that funds agricultural projects in the developing countries. Roy hails from Shillong.

IAS from UP rule roosts in Delhi

There is a large chunk of bureaucrats from Uttar Pradesh who are calling shots in the Government of India. One may wonder that why bureaucrats from UP rule roosts at the Centre. Reason for this is very simple. In UP IAS are liberally granted the rating of "outstanding" in their annual confidential reports (ACRs). In contrast to this IAS officers from other states are quite miser in giving "outstanding" grade in ACRs of sub ordinate bureaucrats.

IAS and IPS angry in Bihar

IAS and IPS officers are angry in Bihar over a remark by Forest Minister Jagadanda Singh against the two services.Chief Secretary S N Biswas and DGP R R Prasad met the RJD Chief Laloo Prasad Yadav to lodge their protest.

G N Bajpai is new SEBI Chief

Chairman of the LIC G N Bajpai has been appointed Chairman of the SEBI for a period of three year. He would replace D R Mehta who relinquishes office on Wednesday.

Senior IPS officer Anjneya Reddy who was in a mood to put in his papers in protest against the appointment of P Ramulu as DGP of Andhra Pradesh is being appointed Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation.

Arun Jyoti has replaced S N Mathur as Managing Director of the IBP Co. So far Jyoti was Executive Director (Marketing ) in IOC.

Vijay Laxmi Vishwanathan is OSD

Vijay Laxmi Vishwanathan has taken over as OSD South-Western Railway with headquarters at Bangalore. She is 1968 batch Indian Railway Accounts service officer.

MP IAS jailed

Ramesh Thete 1993 batch Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS officer who was arrested on charge of accepting bribe of Rs one lakh has been remanded to judicial custody till March 5.
