Can Mayawati clinch UP CM's 'Kursi'?

Amidst prediction by pollsters of a hung assembly in Uttar Pradesh political pundits do not rule possibility of a coalition Government in Uttar Pradesh.The possible coalition comprising BSP and BJP could, once again see Ms. Mayawati at the helm of affairs in the Uttar Pradesh government. If it happens then that would be an added advantage for the NDA Government headed Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The NDA Government would become stronger because in the bargain BSP MPs would back the Vajpayee government.

Extensions denied in CBI

Government of India has turned down the proposal to grant one year extension to three Joint Directors of the CBI.The CBI bosses wanted extension in tenure of three Joint Directors Ms J K Dutta (West Bengal 1971),M S Bali (Uttar Pradesh 1976) and Neeraj Kumar (UT1976).

1967 batch adjusted

All the empanelled 1967 batch IAS officers for the secretary level have been adjusted in the Government of India. Now it will soon be the turn of 1968 batch.

Suspended IAS in MP gets bail

Ramesh Thete, an IAS of 1993 batch who was suspended by Madhya Pradesh Government, following his arrest on corruption charges by sleuths of MP Lok Ayukta, was able to secure bail. Thete who belongs to MP cadre was nabbed red handed from a Bhopal's posh hotel on February 18, while accepting bribe of Rs.One lakh. He had earned reputation of being Khairnar in Jabalpur.

Two new Additional Chief Secretaries in Assam

Prabir Kumar Dutta 1967 batch IAS and J P Rajkhowa 1968 batch IAS have been promoted to the rank of Additional Chief Secretary in Assam.

Ravi Saxena dies

Joint Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Ravi Sinha died in Delhi This morning. 55 year old Sinha was 1974 batch IA & AS officer. His extended tenure in the Ministry was also coming to an end on March 15.
