Will Bimal Jalan go ?

Grapevine has it that Governor of the Reserve Bank of India Bimal Jalan will be changed after the presentation of the budget. Some big shots in the corridors of power have already started lobbying for the prestigious post of the RBI Governor.

Samal to join Textile Ministry

Sanjeet Samal is being appointed Joint Development Commissioner in Ministry of Textiles in the Government of India. He is an officer of Indian Trade Service.

1970 batch IPS empanelment

About 16 IPS officers of 1970 batch have been empanelled to the rank of Additional Director General in the Government of India.

Shrivastava to be High Court Judge

V K Shrivastava ,a senior judge is being appointed judge of the Chhatisgarh High Court. An official announcement to this effect is likely to be made soon.

PMO and Joint Secretaries

Rasmi Verma is the first officer from 1982 batch to be appointed as a JS in GOI. She continues the trend (or tradition) set up several years ago, promoting the Directors as Joint Secretary, in situ, in the PMO. From 1978 batch Jawed Usmani of UP Cadre was promoted as JS from being a Director in the PMO itself, from 1979 batch it was the turn of R Ramanujam of MP cadre, who subsequently shifted to Power Ministry; from 1980 batch it was Chattar Singh of Haryana cadre getting a similar promotion in PMO itself. Thankfully there was no one from 1981 batch of IAS in the PMO !

Bhullar is new DGP Punjab

Mahal Singh Bhullar has been appointed new DGP of Punjab. He is 1965 batch IPS officer. Bhullar will replace Sarabjeet Singh.

Ratra is new Chief Secretary Punjab

Yogendra Singh Ratra is the new Chief Secretary of Punjab. 1966 batch IAS officer Ratra has replaced N K Arora who has been appointed Presiding Officer Sales Tax Tribunal. Home Secretary during the Badal regime Bikram Jeet Singh has also been appointed Presiding Officer State and CollegesTribunal. Ramesh Inder Singh PS to Prakash Singh Badal has been shifted to Human Rights Commission as Secretary.

Sinha is PS to Punjab Chief Minister

S K Sinha has been appointed Principal Secretary to the new Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal. He is 1973 batch IAS officer.He would also look after Home, Justice, Vigilance and Public Relations Department.

Two CBI DIGs' to be promoted

Two DIGs' of the CBI cadre A K Majumdar and Debashish Bagchi are being promoted to the rank of Joint Director most probably this week.

Orissa's Financial crisis

Orissa Government may not be able to disburse this month's salary to its employees because of grave financial crisis.Chief Secretary D P Bagchi has already written letter to Heads of the Departments about grave financial condition .

Bureaucratic reshuffle in J&K

Effecting a major administrative shake up, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered transfers and postings of 46 IAS and KAS (Kashmir Administrative Service) in the state.
Among those who were transferred include S.S. Blowria, Principal Secretary to Governor who has been posted as Director General, Institute of Management and Public Administration and Rural Development. He will continue to hold the additional post of Chief Executive Officer of Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board.
A.S. Sidhu, IAS, has been posted as Principal Secretary the Transport and Information Department.
B.L. Nimesh, Commissioner/Secretary, Science and Technology Department has been transferred and posted as Chairman, J and K Special Tribunal.
K.A. Bhat, member, J and K Special Tribunal has been transferred and posted as Commissioner/Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department on ex-cadre basis.

IAS changes in Madhya Pradesh

D S Mathur has been appointed new Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC).He would replace A V Singh who is taking over as Chief Secretary . Vinod Chaudhry has been given additional charge of Higher Education,Sports and Youth Welfare.Sushma Nath will hold additional charge of Tourism and Culture.D R Bhagat has been shifted to Fisheries and Dairy Development.
