Hajarika to join GoI

K Hajarika is joining the Government of India as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Child and Women Welfare. He is from Assam -Meghalaya cadre.

Karnataka refuses to have officers on deputation

Karnataka Chief Secretary is understood to have written to the Centre not to send IAS, IPS or IFS on deputation to the state any more. He feels that it would further increase the financial burden on the state. Already the state has a surplus of such officers.

Post of PCD in MEA to be downgraded

A major bureaucratic reshuffle in Delhi.

In a major bureaucratic reshuffle Revenue Secretary S Narayan has been appointed as Finance Secretary and Economic Affairs Secretary.Ajay Vikram Singh will replace Mr Narayan as Revenue Secretary. Expenditure Secretary C S Rao will continue to hold the same post. D C Gupta will be the new Banking and Insurance Secretary. Hitherto, Ajay Vikram Singh who replaces Narayan, as Revenue Secretary was Special Secretary in Defence Ministry.C M Vasudev who is currently looking after Economic Affairs has been appointed as India's Executive Director in World Bank. He is relinquishing the post by this month-end.

L.K.Joshi goes to NHAI, Delhi

L K Joshi who was Principal Secretary Public Relations and Water Resources and Commissioner Public Relations in Madhya Pradesh would be Member (Administration), National Highways Authority of India in the rank of Additional Secretary.

High Court benches

With the fructification of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court and the Jalpaiguri Bench of the Calcutta High Court, now underway, the number of Benches of High Courts outside their principal seat will go up to 15 Benches from the existing 13 Benches. Since Chief Justices of the Allahabad and Karnataka High Courts have rejected the proposals of the two State Governments for constituting a Bench of Allahabad High Court in Western Uttar Pradesh and a Bench of Karnataka High Court at Hubli, there is no way the Centre can do anything in this regard.

PRK Hara Gopal is Director BEL

PRK Hara Gopal has taken charge as the new Director (Finance) of Defence Public Sector Unit (PSU) Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) at Bangalore. He has earlier served as Additional General Manager (Finance) in BEL's Chennai Unit from 1991 to 1995.
