In all probability R Ramanathan will join the Rastrapati Bhawan alongwith A.P.J. Abdul Kalam as his Secretary. Ramanathan is retired Member (Finance) Telecommunications. Kalam Saheb is believed to have conveyed to the Government about his choice of IA & IAAS officer Ramanathan.

A N Mathur has been appointed new Chief Secretary of Haryana. 1967 batch IAS officer Mathur has replaced L M Goyal.Incidentaly Goyal is abroad.

SK Lambah, coordinating India's part in international efforts to reconstruct Afghanistan, is learnt to have quit his job.He did so since he feels that the objective with which he was appointed on the coveted post is over. He was the man who opened Indian Embassy in Kabul as soon as the interim government of Hamid Karzai was installed there.
