Intense lobbying is on in the corridors of power to grab the coveted post of BSF DG, falling vacant this month end following the superannuation of Gurubachan Jagat .If the former UP Chief Minister, Rajnath Singh, has spoken to the Prime Minister for posting of present UP DGP RK Pandit on the post, former Punjab Chief Minister, Prakash Singh Badal, is keen to have Sarabjit Singh on the post while the former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Bhairon Singh Shekhawat is trying for Ashok Bhandari and the Home Secretary, Kamal Pande. for Ajay Raj Sharma. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu is sure about the posting of H J Dora to the post.

IAS propose, Congress Government disposes in Punjab

Turning down the desire of a host of bureaucrats, who served Punjab during the recent Akali Dal regime, to go to the Centre on deputation, the present Congress government has made it amply clear that no such officer would be relieved until and unless he faces prosecution in the state itself. The state government is inquiring into various matters of the Akali Dal regime, it may be pointed out here.

Tanuja Shrivastava is joining the CBI. She is 1990 batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre.

Mruntunjay Sahoo to be JS and FA Power

The ACC has cleared the name of Mruntunjay Sahoo for the post of Joint Secretary and FA in the Ministry of Power. He is 1981 batch IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre. Sahoo would succeed R Ramanujam, 1979 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, whose tenure expired on Monday.

Dhirendra Singh to be empanelled

Grapevine has it that Additional Secretary Defence Production, Dhirendra Singh, is being empanelled to the rank of Secretary in Government of India in a month or two. He is 1968 batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre.

Namita Sekhon joins BSNL

Namita Sekhon has joined as General Manager (Finance) in BSNL at Punjab Telecom Circle. She is 1985 batch IAAS officer.

No Chairman for Mumbai Port Trust

There is remote possibility of a Chairman being appointed in the Mumbai Port Trust in near future. The post is lying vacant since the tenure of its Chairman A K Mago expired last month.
It is said that any new Chairman would now be posted only when the tenure of its Deputy RR Sinha expires in November. Till then Sinha is going to officiate as Chairman.

Bagai to return Chhattisgarh

R P Bagai is returning to the parent Chhattisgarh cadre next month after completion of his tenure in Government of India. Tenure of Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Bagai, has expired last week.
