Ministry Expansion

The expansion of the Union Ministry likely to be effected by the Prime Minister soon is unlikely to miss Rajnath Singh, Keshubhai Patel and Shatrughan Sinha. All the three are to be inducted this time. While Mamta Banerjee is also sure to be inducted, Omar Farooq is likely to be given Cabinet rank in the forthcoming Union Cabinet expansion. He may also get some independent charge.

Pathan to get foreign assignment ?

Outgoing Chairman of the Indian Oil Corporation M A Pathan is being considered for some foreign assignment in the Ministry of External Affairs. Of course, search for diplomatic assignment to Pathan is on with the knowledge of the PMO.

Tenure of T K Bose Deputy Director General, Geological Survey of India, Kolkata, is expiring on Saturday. Bose is 1970 batch IAS officer of West Bengal cadre.

Academy of Administration averse to IAS

The Academy of Administration, Mussorie, is no more interested in having IAS officers on deputation. It is reported to have conveyed to the Centre in no uncertain terms that since it would not like to have more IAS on deputation, the officers from other Central Services be thus sent to it.

The government of the newly created state of Jharkhand has resolved to press upon the Union government for increasing the IPS strength in the state. Running the show with a meagre strength of 87 IPS, the state government would soon approach the centre in this connection.

A major bureaucratic reshuffle in Delhi


Central Government has appointed Subir Dutta as the new Defence Secretary.Dutta who is an IAS of 1967 batch and belongs to the West Bengal cadre would succeed Yogendra Narain who retires by this month end. P. Shankar would succeed Boparai in the Planning Commission as the Secretary. S. S. Dawara has been made Secretary in the Ministry of Non -Conventional Energy sources. He would replace P.M.Nair who has been made Secretary Defence Production and Supplies in place of Mr.Subir Dutta.Hithero Dawara was Director Enforcement.Dawara and Nair belong to the 1967 batch. S. Prabhakaran, (1967batch) from Special Secretary Power to Financial Adviser and ex-officio Secretary to Government of India And concurrently he would be Member Atomic Energy Commission and Space Commission. M. Shankar, (1967 batch) Secretary Official Language to Secretary Urban Development .He would replace Kosalram who is superannuating on June30. Pratibha Karan, (1967) Managing Director TRIFED to Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries in place of D.P. Tripathi, IRTS (1965 batch) who retires on June 30. K. K. Jaswal (1968 batch), Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser Industrial Policy and Promotion to Secretary Statistics and Programme Implementation. He would succeed B.K. Misra, (1967 batch). N. S. Sisodia (1968 batch) Additional Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat to Special Secretary in Power Ministry in place of S. Prabhakaran, IAS (1967 batch). Vineeta Rai (1968 batch) Additional Secretary Urban Development has been elevated in the same department as Special Secretary. S. K. Tuteja (1968 batch) Development Commissioner for Small Scale Industries to Secretary Official Language B. K. Misra (1967) as Chairman Staff Selection Commission in the rank and pay of Secretary to Government of India upto the date of his superannuation and on contract thereafter. He has succeeded K. M. Lal who completed his tenure on Friday.

Sathi Nair, Special Chief Secretary in the General Administration Department, has been transferred and posted as Chief Commissioner of Land Administration in the vacancy caused due to K Swaminathan's transfer to the Secretariat.T Chatterjee Member Secretary of the Pollution Control Board, has been posted as Principal Secretary in the Municipal Administration and Urban Development in place of M Sahoo who will be going on central deputation shortly .Priya Darshi Dash, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of the Mines Development Corporation has been posted as Principal Secretary (revenue). She replaces K K Bangar, who is tipped to become member of the Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal.Minnie Mathew, principal secretary (Industries) has been posted as Principal Secretary in the Women development, Child Welfare and disabled welfare department. She replaces S Chellappa, who has been posted as the managing director of the Nizam Sugars Factory.Shalini Mishra, Director of Women Welfare and Child development, has been posted as the Diector of Civil Supplies. Srikakulam Collector K Jawahar Reddy has been transferred to East Godavari. The post was vacant since Satish Chandra moved to the Chief Minister's office.Sutirtha Battarcharya, Managing Director of Nizam Sugars, has been posted as Agriculture Commissioner in place of Rajeev Sarma, who has been made the Transport Commissioner.V Usha Rani, Director of DWCRA, and M V Satyanarayana, have been posted as additional commissioners in the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad. Dr A Ashok, has been posted as Deputy Commissioner Excise, Hyderabad.New joint Collectors in Nizamabad and Medak districts have also been posted.

IPS promotions in MP

V.K.Singh on his return from deputation to centre has been promoted as Inspector General of Police(IGP) and posted as IG Special Armed Forces (SAF)-training and operations.He would replace Sudarshan Kumar who has been posted as IG Jabalpur Range.And IG Jabalpur Range V.K.Shukul would be new IG Hoshangabad Range.All these changes would be effective from next month.
