Why the BJP fared poorly in recently held polls to four sate assemblies? In the past an individual was given due recognition after seeing his "chal- chalan evam chehra"(conduct & face). But, in present times BJP has failed on account of three factors of "nabz, nazaria aur nazrana". By the word 'nabz' it is implied that the party failed to keep a tab on pulse among masses. While, "nazaria" implies vision, "nazrana" stands for according favours to party workers.

A C Biswas is going on deputation to the Government of India. 1976 batch Bihar cadre IAS officer Biswas is to join as CVO in a company controlled by the Ministry of Steel.

RAW official gets proforma - promotion

J &K Government has cleared K Illango for promotion on proforma basis as IG from June 1998. Illango who is 1982 batch IPS officer of J & K cadre is currently on deputation to the RAW.

BJP -a party with a difference!

The BJP major partner in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government being headed by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, is a party with a difference. How is it a party with a difference can be judged from the fact that in spite of such a heavy death toll in Gujarat, the Centre has not dismissed Gujarat Government. On the contrary erstwhile Congress Government at the Centre had dismissed Governments in three BJP ruled states in December 1992 when 200 odd people were killed as a backlash to the Ayodhya demolitions on December Six, 1992. The then Prime Minister P.V.Narasimha Rao had recommended to the President for dismissal of Governments in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Where from Mrs. Mohsina Kidwai will go to RS?

Where from AICC general secretary Mrs. Mohsina Kidwai would go to the Rajya Sabha? This question is doing rounds in political circles because Mrs. Kidwai is in charge of party affairs in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Two seats for the Rajya Sabha would fall vacant from Chhattisgarh whereas three seats would have to be filled up from Madhya Pradesh, by next month.

Hazarika is Consulting Editor Statesman

Well known Journalist Sanjoy Hazarika has joined as Consulting Editor of the Statesmen to look after North-East affairs. Sanjoy Hazarika who was earlier Delhi based correspondent of The New York Times is currently a fellow in the Centre for Policy Research ,New Delhi. Apart from this Hazarika is managing trustee of the Centre for North-East Studies and Policy Research .

Two new judges

Iqbal Ahmad Ansari and Pradip Kumar Mohanty have been appointed additional judges of Guwahati and Orissa High Courts, respectively.
