Don't get surprised if some dark horse makes it.

Krishna Kumar Jalan who is empanelled to the rank of Joint Secretary in the Government of India is likely to join the Ministry of Textiles as DG of Apparel Export Promotion Council. He is 1982 batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre.

AV S Reddy is the new Director of National Institute of Rural Development Hyderabad.He is 1968 batch IAS officer. This Institute comes under the Ministry of Rural Development in the Government of India.

Malhi to be new Chief Secretary J & K

Major IPS reshuffle in Punjab

In a major IPS reshuffle, the Punjab government has transferred 49 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers.

One Director General of Police (DGP), 11 Additional Director Generals of Police, 15 Inspector Generals of Police (IGPs), four Deputy Inspector Generals of Police and 18 other IPS officers have been shifted.

Those close to the Akali-BJP regime have allegedly been sidelined. P S Aulakh is now ADGP (Rules). Punjab Police chief M S Bhullar's son had contested the polls as a Congress candidate. New DIG Ferozepur Range Mohd Mustafa's wife Razia Sultana is Congress MLA from Malerkotla.

DGP (Railways) Jarnail S Chahal has been appointed as DGP and chairman Punjab Road Transport Corporation (PRTC). ADGP (Home Guards) S V Singh has been given charge of ADGP-cum-Chief Director Vigilance Bureau, replacing S K Verma who now has taken over as in-charge PHRC.

ADGP B P Tiwari has been shifted as ADGP (Operations) in place of G S Aujla who has been appointed director Punjab Police Academy (PPA), Phillaur. He will be replacing D R Bhatti who has been appointed ADGP (Computers and Wireless).

ADGP (Security) S S Virk has been shifted to Punjab Armed Police, Jalandhar in the same capacity against a vacant post.ADGP (Rules) Lalit Bhatia has been shifted to Punjab State Electricity Board, Patiala as ADGP (Vigilance and Security), replacing S C Jain who will now be ADGP (Railways).

ADGP (Administration) N P S Aulakh has been shifted as ADGP (Training) in place of B P Tiwari who will take over as ADGP (Operations). ADGP (Prisons) R S Chalia has been appointed as ADGP (Home Guards and Civil Defence) replacing S V Singh.

Fifteen IGs have also been shifted. Mohd Izhar Alam (Investigations) has been shifted to IG (Prisons). A P Pandey (IG-HQ) had been made IG Vigilance Bureau in place of Suresh Arora who has been shifted as IG (Litigation).

Bakshi Ram, IG (Operations) has been transferred to computer and wireless in the same capacity replacing G D Pandey.Anil Kaushik has been assigned as IG Patiala zone replacing S M Sharma who had been IG(CDO).

IG (Traffic) R C Prasad has been appointed IG (Investigations) Lok Pal in place of Izhar Alam. IG (PPA) Chander Shekhar has been shifted as IG (CDO) in place of Kaushik. Shekhar would be replaced by Jyoti Trehan.

IG (Zonal-II) J P Birdi would now be IG (Crime) replacing Sumesh Saini who would now be IG (Intelligence) against a vacant post. IG (Zonal-I) SM Sharma will now be IG PAP, Jalandhar and G D Pandey would be IG (Operations).

IG (Security) Sanjeev Gupta will replace A P Panday as as IG (HQ) while Suresh Arora has been posted as IG (Litigation). Meanwhile, Rajinder Singh IG (Home Guards) has been shifted as IG (Security) in place of Sanjiv Gupta while Satish Sharma has been promoted to post of IG (Zonal-II) in place of J P Virdi.

Among the four DIGs, Mohammed Mustafa, who was shifted as DIG (Admn) PAP, Jalandhar, has been made DIG Ferozepur range. He would replace Hardip Singh Dhillion who has been given charge of DIG (Training) against a vacant post.

DIG Jalandhar Range C S R Reddy too has been shifted to CM Security in place of S K Sharma. DIG (Intelligence) Dinkar Gupta has been appointed DIG Jalandhar Range.
