Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee has cleared the appointment of N Gopalswami as new Home Secretary. Formal orders are to be issued in a day or two. 1966 batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer Gopalswami who is currently Secretary Culture would succeed Kamal Pande.
