Given the proximity of the Deputy Prime Minister, LK Advani, with the regional leaders like Jayalalitha, Chandra Babu Naidu and Mayawati, it is being speculated that the Deputy PM may lose the prefix of Deputy. Recovery on resignation

An MP cadre IAS officer who was sent abroad for training is now unwilling to return to the country. He is reported to have been offered a job by some MNC on a lucrative package and terms and conditions. But if he resigns, he will have to pay Rs. 5.5 lakh which the state has spent on his training. Government of India has repatriated Adviser in the Planning Commission, P K Mohanty, to the parent Orissa cadre. 1967 batch IAS officer Mohanty is taking over as Chief Secretary of Orissa on November 1.
