The Cabinet Secretary is believed to have recently asked all the Secretaries to explain their proposals to the Deputy PMO before they are placed on the Cabinet Agenda. What does this indicates ? Strengthening the Deputy's office further or something else.

Uttaranchal Chief Secretary to join GoI

Chief Secretary of Uttaranchal, Madhukar Gupta, is reportedly joining the Government of India in a couple of months. 1971 batch IAS officer Madhukar Gupta has recently been empanelled to the rank of Additional Secretary.

Batchmate is batchmate's boss !

It may sound to be intriguing but it is a fact that a batch mate has been made the boss of his batchmate. 1968 batch IAS officer, VK Agnihotri, who has been appointed as the Chairman of the Tariff Commission is the batch mate of his subordinate MK Bezboruah who is the Member-Secretary in the Commission. Bezboruah is 1968 batch IAS officer of UT cadre.

Finance Minister 's cold shoulder to Advani !

Even the recommendation of the Deputy Prime Minister, LK Advani, failed to move Finance Minister Jaswant Singh and Joint Secretary Economic Affairs S Behura has finally been kept in the Compulsory Wait category. 1973 batch UP cadre IAS officer Behura was interested to avoid this situation and had been helped by Advani but of no avail.

AV Singh 's proposal turned down by the PMO

Revenue Secretary, AV Singh, who wanted a light weight department, has finally been asked to stick with the Non-Conventional Energy. The Cabinet Secretariat had recommended the post of Secretary -Steels for the IAS in question but the PMO didn't agree to it.

Post of DG Tourism to be abolished !

Director General - Tourism, VK Duggal, has been promoted as Special Secretary - Forests and Environment. Grapevine has it that the post of DG-Tourism will now be abolished after the 1968 batch UT cadre IAS officer shifts from it.
