Kamal Pande appointed Cabinet Secretary

On late Thursday night Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee cleared the appointment of Kamal Pande as the next Cabinet Secretary. 1965 batch Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer Pande would take over from T R Prasad on November 1.

Gupta is PS to Vice President

D N Gupta has been appointed PS to Vice President Bheron Singh Shekhawat. He is currently serving the Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha. Mahavir Prasad Sharma will be new Additional PS. He also hails from Rajasthan.

Central Service officers in AP under check

The number of officials in the Central Services - IAS and IPS - in Andhra Pradesh, against whom various inquiries are going on, are growing. At present inquiries on corruption charges are being conducted against 50 IAS and 25 IPS officials.
