Jacob to get foreign assignment !

It is learnt that Lt Gen J F R Jacob is to set upon a new assignment as
an ambassador after his tenure as the Governor Punjab comes to an end on 18th April.Speculations are that Jacob is in the running for United States of America and England as an Ambassador.Either one of the countries or any other western nation might just end up in Jacob's laps anytie now.Till a few weeks ago, foreign secretary Kanwal Sibbal was also trying real hard to bag the coveted ambassadorship to US but he is no longer in the runnning.

Is gender equity merely a slogan ?

Much hue and cry is being made about women empowerment and gender equity in the GoI every now and then. But are the powers that be really serious in giving the fair sex their due share. Going by the position of women officers in the empanelment to the Secretary rank, at least, it doesn't seems so. The number of Women officers in the rank do not indicate that the women are being provided justice.
