Secretary Tribal Affairs in Government of India S P Arya is joining the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) as Member at Mumbai today. He is 1968 batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre.

Gokhle to be Secretary North-East

Chairman of the FCI Achyut Madhav Gokhle is all set to become the Secretary North-East in Government of India. He is 1968 batch IAS officer of Nagaland cadre.Formal orders are to be issued this week.

Jha promoted in Orissa

Binoynanda Jha has been promoted to the rank of DIG in Orissa. 1988 batch IPS officer Jha has been posted in Intelligence. Sunil Roy will now be DIG home Guards.

Siddiqui's men to change guards!!

Grapevine has it that after DGP A A Siddiqui returns from the United Kingdom towards the first week of September, there would be a major revamping of the higher command in Punjab Police. Following changes are likely to be made:
1) P.Lal would be redesignated as ADGP Computers and Wireless
2) Rajdeep Gill would move over to PAP
3) D.R.Bhatti would take over as ADGP Security
4) Mohd Izhar Alam would be pushed in a better position by Siddiqui, as predicted by Whispers almost three weeks back. He is likely to be the next ADGP Crime
5) R.K.Gupta is tipped to take over from Mohd Izhar Alam as the ADGP Crime.
6) Jarnail Singh Chahal would take over as ADGP Homeguards in case Sarabjit Singh proceeds for a CPO posting.
More shufflings at the ADGP level are expected but only time can tell what the DGP has thought for the future.
However, what would be interesting to know is whether the "Gracious Soul" who came from Delhi to "Help" the lower level police officers be able to help them in the wake of the postings ?

Has Kaushik created history in Indian bureaucracy ?

Sanjeev Kaushik, (IAS,1992, Kerala) has created history. Three years ago, this officer reportedly resigned from the IAS to join Bank of America as a foreign exchange trader and was based out of London. Suddenly last week, he reported back to Kerala government, and after immense political pressure on the Government of India, he got his resignation withdrawn and was taken back into the IAS. He has been appointed as Deputy COmmissioner, Palghat.
