Kasturi Gupta Menon is Secretary Child and Women Welfare

Ms Kasturi Gupta Menon is new Secretary Child and Women Welfare in Government of India. 1969 batch West Bengal cadre IAS officer Ms Menon has succeeded Dr R V Vaidyanath Ayyar who superannuated on July 31.Ms Menon who is currently Development Commissioner in Textile Ministry would assume charge today.

Establishment Officer in the Department of Personnel Ms Chitra Chopra has been appointed Secretary Backward Class Commission.She is 1969 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre.

Dr Bose to head North-Eastern council

Madhya Pradesh cadre 1969 batch IAS officer Dr J L Bose has been promoted to the rank of Secretary in Government of India. He has been appointed Chief of North-Eastern Council with headquarters at Shillong.

Surinder Nath Committee Report

The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) constituted a group, in December 2002, under the Chairmanship of Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Surinder Nath, former Chairman of the UPSC, to review and make recommendations with regard to present systems of performance appraisal, promotions and lateral movement in respect of the All India Services and other Group A services.Other members of the Committee were Mssrs A K Agrawal,Prodipto Ghosh, Prof. Vinaysheel Gautam and O P Agrawal.The report contains controversial recommendations pertaining to appraisal,promotions and empanelment of IAS, IPS and IFS officers and relationship between state governments and the respective cadre controlling authorities of these three services.
