Panna Lal Punia is unlikely to join the Government of India as Additional Secretary. 1971 batch IAS officer Punia is currently Principal Secretary to UP Chief Minister Mayawati.

Now Home Ministry to look after immigration work

The Union Home Ministry has now taken the work of immigration in border areas from the local police. This has been done to put a more effective check on intruders from across the border.

Now no more bore meetings in Rajasthan

The new Chief secretary of Rajasthan, RK Nair, has told the officials in clear terms to avoid too lengthy meetings. He has asked them to be precise. The officials are happy that now they would not be wasting most of their time in meetings that used to bore them.

1987 batch IPS to be promoted in Gujarat

1987 batch IPS officers are being promoted to the rank of DIG in Gujarat in a week or two. Altogether there are eight officers of this batch.

Why delay in appointment of doctors ?

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is yet to give appointments to doctors and Medical Specialists/Super Specialists recommended by UPSC in early 2002. It seems there is a deadlock between MOH&FW and Dept of Expenditure over 10% cut of posts. MOH&FW says that since it is essential service sector, it can't afford to have 10% cut. While the Dept of Expenditure is bent on its general 10% rule irrespective of any service. Now with evening OPDs announced by Minister of Health , regular doctors in all hospitals including AIIMS are finding it difficult to work from 8am to 7 pm and secondly poor people are not getting proper care and facilities which otherwise would have been provided by these 70-80 Doctors/Medical Specialist/Super Specialists.

Kamal to lose Delhi

Kamal Nath, though, will remain the AICC general secretary but the charge of Delhi quite likely may be taken from him in the next reshuffle.

Soni also to lose

Ambika Soni too is likely to lose the charge of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan in the days to come. The party high command does not wants to take any risks after the Gujarat debacle.
