Bharat Ratna was almost sure to be given to Late Dhirubhai Ambani but the powers that be dropped the idea at the last moment when some of Ambani's opponents threatened to expose his alleged misdeeds if the award was given to him. Who these VVIPS were who proved to be heavier than the `all mighty' political heavyweights. Big wigs including several Union Ministers and the Chief Ministers of various states were in favour of this year's Bharat Ratna for late Dhirubhai.
