Now Badal to expose Amrinder bureaucrats !

When the ICC Cricket World Cup began, it began with the slogan…It doesn't get bigger than this!Well the world cup is over way back but the fiercesome contest is still on.Only that the players and the playground have changed, but the slogan…remains the same. "It doesn't get bigger than this ever!"No it's not Bush and Saddam but our very own Amarinder Singh and Parkash Singh Badal. The only thing is that it still isn't clear till now who amongst Badal and Amarinder is the real Saddam? Here's a brief insight into the latest exchange of brickbats between the Akalis and the Amarinder Singh led Punjab bureaucracy. After a fiery witch hunting of the Akali supremo, Prakash Singh Badal and his family on serious corruption charges, the Badal clan has decided to hit back….This time directly targeting the bureaucracy working under the Congress led machinery. The most hard hitting allegations have been on the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, S.K.Sinha and ADGP/Vigilance A.P.Pande.

Target 1: S.K.Sinha, P.S.to C.M: The Badals allege that the Amarinder Singh Government should first clean it's own collar and then grab hold of somebody else's.Both Parkash Singh and son ,Sukhbir allege that S.K.Sinha is guilty of irregular appointments of Naib-Tehsildars in Punjab amounting to serious corruption as the appointments were done against the then existing Government's orders. An inquiry by K.S.Janjuia (IAS, retd - 65 Batch) , the then Financial Commissioner - Revenue, Punjab held S.K.Sinha to be guilty of charges.

Target 2: A.P.Pande, ADGP/Vigilance - Badals allege that on the way to Fatehgarh Sahib on the Landran road lies a village Ban Majra in Ropar district. Now the largest farmhouse of the entire region, spread across
some 15-20 acres of land, allegedly belongs to A.P.Pande. The allegation is that how and from where A.P.Pande managed the sources and funds to buy such a huge farmhouse. His salary as a government official is limited and doesn't permit him to afford a farmhouse of that stature.

School for Son In Law? It is also alleged by the Akalis that around 3-4 acres of land on the Kharar -Banur road is being developed into a school for A.P.Pande's son in law.The Akalis are now questioning the seriousness of the anti-corruprion drive launched by Amarinder Singh and asking as to why Vigilance supremo,A.P.Pande has been spared at the first place. Badals have openly announced that it is quite a paradox that the Vigilance Chief , spearheading the anti corruption drive, has a serious land grabbing and corruption charge to face..

Target 3: S.P.Singh, Superintendent of Police - This police officer was primarily instrumental in heading most of the vigilance raids on the assets and properties of the Badal Clan. However, he finds himself in a property soup as the Akalis allege that Singh runs a sprawling, state of the art, luxurious hotel complex by the name of Bristol Resorts on the Zirakpur -Delhi highway. However, it is believed that since Singh had already come under the scanner once for the same property, he supposedly sold it to a trusted confidante of his and the transaction took place only on papers with real benefits still flowing into Singh's kitty.

Well charges by the Badal family are surely gory and intolerable and the question is not whether they are right or wrong but ..how political parties differing on ideologies hit back at each other making senior bureaucrats of the states as soft targets. No one can deny the fact that Pande, Sinha, Singh and all senior bureaucrats of Punjab have a role to play and a duty to do.But if, commitment to one's duty means facing flak from political bosses of the state then one would wonder what would happen to the moral of the upcoming, young bureaucrats of the state?
