One dozen vacancies of Additional Secretary

There are atleast one dozen Additional Secretary level vacancies in the Government of India.On the return of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Delhi Additional Secretary level changes are going to take place.

Dr Surajit Mitra to be JS North-East

Joint Secretary and FA in the Ministry of Petroleum Dr Surajit Mitra has been shifted to the Department of North-East.He is 1977 batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre.Earlier there were reports of his being sent on compulsory wait.

Shyam Bajpai to move Sydeny

Shyam Bajpai is being shifted to Sydeny.He is currently posted in the ADB in Manila.1972 batch Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS officer Bajpai had quit the service to join the Asian Development Bank.

Two sisters as Secretary to Government of India

With the promotion of Mrs.Adarsh Mishra (IAS 1969 AGMUT) as to the level of Secretary, both she and her
elder sister are now Secretary level officers.Her sister Mrs.Veena Maitra is the Director General of Defence Estates in the Ministry of Defence with the rank and pay of a full Secretary to GOI.At present there are no other sisters in the GOI at such a high level.Recently there was another such pair.Mrs.Asha Das (IAS 1964 Madhya Pradesh) was Secretary Women and Child Welfare, and her sister Mrs.Usha Sahajpal (1966 ICAS) was Controller General of Civil Accounts.Both have retired now.

Shakti Sinha (IAS, UT, 1979) who is Senior Advisor to the Indian Executive Director at the World Bank is trying to prevent other Indians from joining the Bank. Not very long ago, he tried moving a resolution through the earlier ED, BP Singh (IAS, Assam Meghalaya, 1964), by arguing that Indians, especially IAS officers, leaving India to join the World Bank constituted 'brain drain'. As a result four Indians were recently denied jobs at the Bank. Indians at the Bank are quite unhappy with him, for usually other ED's offices relentlessly lobby for jobs to their countrymen whereas he is doing the opposite.

Prasad Ranjan Ray is joining the Government of India as Additional Secretary soon.He is 1972 batch IAS officer of West Bengal cadre.

Mathai John empanelled

Kerala cadre 1971 batch IAS officer Mathai John has been empanelled to the rank of Additional Secretary during the last review meeting.

IPS changes in Jharkhand on cards

IPS changes are expected to take place in Jharkhand soon.Among others Ram Laxman Singh 1988 batch,Tadasha Mishra 1994 batch and Deepak Kumar Verma 1993 batch will figure in the list.

ADG (railways) S C Saxena has been shifted to Civil Rights Enforcement Bangalore.K A Hafeez on promotion has been made IG Railways. S S Bhasai will be new ADG Administration. Chandra Shekharan will now go to Southern Range as IG. Gopal B Hosur and S Bhaskar will be SP and DCP Raichur and South respectively. B E Unapathy has been made IG Civil Rights and Enforcement Bangalore.M Laxman has been appointed Additional Commissioner Traffic and Security Bangalore.J V K Gaonkar is now IG Security Force Udupi.B G Mirji has been shifted to PHQ as IG Administration.C Chandrashekhar on promotion has been made Additional Commissioner Law and Order.M N Reddy and Premshankar Meena have been promoted to the rank of IG.Reddy and Meena will be IGs of Fire Services and Vigilance Water Resources Department.R.H.Aurdakar and Alok Mohan will be DIGs Intelligence and Crime respectively.Amar Kumar Pandey and P Ravindra Nath on promotion have been appointed DIGs Planning and EOW respectively. At long last Subir Raha,high profile Chairman cum Managing Director(CMD)of the Oil and Natural Gas Commission(ONGC)shunned his ego.This was explicit from his delayed meeting with Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Mrs.Sumitra Mahajan.It was the day before that Raha had called on Mrs.Mahajan,but that too six weeks after she had been shifted to the new Ministry.

Adme in Congress

C.L.Adme a retired bureaucrat of the Madhya Pradesh cadre joined the Congress before Chief Minister Digvijay Singh in Bhopal.Adme belonged to the 1984 batch.He has even sought a Congress ticket for MP assembly polls to be held later this year.

What do you make of the "resignation" of Mr.Nitish Kumarji ?He has become minister for accidents rather than Railways.A good Bihari nautanki after forcing his caste man as the Chairman of Railway Board.Hope he will be allowed to resign but which neta is not stuck to his/her kursi in our Bharat ?
