Secretary Civil Aviation K Roy Paul is choice of the PMO for the post of Secretary Defence. Name of 1967 batch Bihar cadre IAS officer Roy Paul is already in circulation . Meanwhile, corridors of power are agog with reports that Defence Minister George Fernandese has asked for the services of 1969 batch IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre Ajay Prasad .Presently Prasad is OSD to Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani.

In case K Roy Paul moves to Defence, now chances of V K Duggal are bright for the post of Secretary Civil Aviation.1968 batch UT cadre IAS officer Duggal is currently Special Secretary in the Ministry of Forests and Environment.

Govindrajan to retire this month

Vinjamuri Govindarajan, Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry is going to retire on 30th June, 2003, on superannuation. He is Andhra Pradesh cadre 1967 batch IAS officer.

Who will be Technical Assistant of ED IMF ?

Srinivas (IAS, Rajasthan, 1989), who happens to be former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao's grand son-in-law is trying to become Technical Assistant to the Indian ED at IMF when the current incumbent vacates his place on August 31. Also in the race are Subhash Garg (IAS, 1983, Rajasthan) who handles World Bank desk in the Ministry of Finance and a Director in the PMO who is supposed to be very keen on the job.

How long Mohanty will last in AP?

In the recent round of transfers in AP the biggest of them was the abrupt transfer of J.Satyanarayana (IAS, 1977) the IT Secretary of the State. It is reported that the CM was unhappy with his work though others say that it is not the CM himself but Special Secretary to CM Randeep Sudan with whom Satya had growing
fiction, was responsible for it by misleading the CM. Two years ago,in a similar vein the then IT Secretary R.Chandrashekar (IAS, 1975) was also transferred abruptly , in identical circumstances. Sudan's glowing clout where he has all authority (because of proximity to CM) and little formal responsibility for files and decision-making (which lies with the IT Secretary) appears to be the source of the tension. Satya had created some of
the worlds best known egovernment projects in record time for the state and is known to be an excellent and easygoing officer. It remains to be seen how long the new IT Secretary JC Mohanty will last.

IAS officer suspended in West Bengal

S Sanjeeve (IAS, 1974, WB) was suspended from service by the West Bengal government for violating the service code of conduct and financial misconduct during his tenure as chairman of the State Land Use Board. He was under compulsory wait for the last few months.
