New Year greetings throw surprise bill The staff of a union minister is piqued over his New Year Greetings bill. The Minister, it may be pointed out here, has got these cards printed at the cost of Rs.55 lakh. It is, however, a matter of investigation - if all the cards have been judiciously used or bulk of them is lying and gathering dust. 14 IPS officers to retire this month Altogether 14 IPS officers are retiring in the country this month. They are Mssrs J P Singh, K K Nath, Deep Narayan Singh, S Kumar, P P Aagja, S S Ali, P R Gandotra, P Srinivasan, C S Amb, H B Ghule, B K Singh, S R Shangpliank, Vasudev Verma and Dr R Rajgopalan. Will M L Sharma join CBI ? Will Rajasthan cadre 1972 batch IPS officer, M L Sharma, join the CBI as Joint Director ?. Eighty Per cent chances of his joining the CBI are bright. One post of JD has fallen vacant in the organisation following the premature repatriation of R V Raju to the parent J&K cadre. Telecom & IT minister reverts to Editor's job ! The Editor in the Telecom & IT minister, Arun Shourie, still wakes up though he has left his previous job years ago. Shourie was a renowned Editor before joining the politics. While in the Ministry, he has now again started taking out time for pointing out the mistakes others commit while writing in English. His passion for correct English has been popular for long. Will Sathi Nair get extension ? Grapevine has it that Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary, Sathi Nair, is getting three months extension. 1966 batch IAS officer, Ms Nair, is scheduled to retire this month end. Next senior officer after her, Arjuna Rao Cheeli, will retire in August next. Major IAS -IPS reshuffle in J&K soon A major IAS and IPS reshuffle is expected to take place in Jammu and Kashmir after the budget session of the state assembly. ASI and Bengali eves The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) seems to be having strong bond with Bengali women. Newly appointed Director General (DG) of ASI, Gauri Chatterji, is the third Bengali lady to hold the important assignment in Independent India. She has succeeded Kasturi Gupta Menon who too is Bengali. Earlier, in the last millennium, Devla Mitra was DG ASI. Of them first two are IAS officers while Devla Mitra was a professional Archaeologist. IAS changes in UP Dimpal Verma has been appointed Special Secretary Uttaranchal Coordination. T N Singh has been made Joint MD in Sugar Federation. Probe ordered against IAS officer Punjab Vigilance Bureau has ordered a probe against 1994 batch IAS officer Vivek Agrawal. Bank officials chargesheeted The CBI has chargesheeted three Canara Bank officials for causing loss to the bank to the tune of Rs four crores. |
