Hum Saath Saath hain!!

Affinity,proximity,closeness.. call it whatever you want to but there indeed is a fine thread that puts officers of the same batch together just as beads of a necklace.Who would know it better than some of the top shot bureaucrats of Punjab. After the recent bureaucratic shuffle in Punjab, this phenomenon has come to light in the brightest of the fashion. Here's offering a small peak into it.Well!! It is an established fact that Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Sanjit Kumar Sinha and senior bureaucrat Romila Dubey are batchmates.Like, most batchmates and fine officers do,they have a wonderful camaraderie and fellow feeling reserved for each other. Absolutely fine!! Shouldn't be an issue at all!! But,is the Dubey family piggybacking on this wonderful association?? Ashok Kumar Dubey and his better half,Romila Dubey emerged with
choicest of postings in the state. A.K Dubey enjoys the best of the clout in the state and has become an integral part of the Chief Minister's coterie . The recent IAS shufflings saw him emerge out with two prime portfolios of Civic Bodies and Urban Development and one of the most influential in the state..Only S.K.Sinha besides, A.K Dubey has a charge of multiple portfolios.Wife,Romila Dubey has also been fortunate to receive positive
vibrations and support of batchmate S.K.Sinha emerging with the portfolio of Tourism. The Dubey family is undoubtedly the most powerful bureaucratic family in Punjab and A.K.Dubey,heralded to be one of the most honest officers in Punjab is a pivotal pillar of the bureaucratic set up in the state. So,there you see..good friends and batchmates are indeed a positive asset to one another anywhere.Well!! If the Bible propounds the theory of "Help Thy neighbours" then shouldn't the bureaucrats follow the mantra of " Help Thy batchmates", in the same vein too.

Minister vs BHEL CMD !

Heavy Industries Minister Bala Saheb Vikhe Patil and Chairman Cum Managing Director(CMD) K.G.Ramchandran of the prestigious PSU of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd.(BHEL) are locked in row.The bone of contention is posting of new ED at BHEL,Bhopal plant .Present ED, Samrendra Nath Roy is retiring by next month end.As the grapevine has it that the Minister has put his foot down for the posting of his blue eyed boy as the ED in BHEL,Bhopal. The Heavy Industries Minister, a hard core loyalist of Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray has, understandably threatened to reduce retirement age in BHEL from 60 years to 58 years. But, this decision would be taken only if the BHEL CMD dared to ignore the Minister. The row is being keenly watched by people in the corportate world, because lowering of retirement age would lead to retirement of almost entire board of the BHEL including the CMD..However, BHEL bosses are awaiting outcome of the ensuing Central cabinet's reshuffle.
