According to the Civil List-2003 of the IAS officers, published by the Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension, Government of India, there are just 4,871 IAS officers in the vast country of ours as on 1 January 2003. While this is nothing to gloat over, it certainly shows that even in a minuscule minority, IAS officers are present almost everywhere in the country. Are they lakhon men ek? Yes, perhaps more; for there is one IAS officer for every 2.15 lakh population.

Five 1983 batch IAS 0fficers yet to be promoted

Five 1983 batch IAS officers Mssrs Busy Sam Bob,K K Mittal, Sanjay Joshi, Harbhajan Singh and Arun Kumar are still waiting in the wings for promotion to the rank of Joint Secretary in Government of India. All the officers are currently posted in Delhi.
