Will Dr Narayan head Pension Authority ?

Grapevine has it that Dr S Narayan OSD in the PMO has agreed to go to Chennai to head the Pensions Authority .Government of India is believed to have agreed to extend the tenure of the authority for a period of five years. Dr Narayan is 1965 batch IAS officer of TamilNadu cadre.Earlier the name of Finance Secretary D C Gupta was in circulation for the post.

Individual is elected or the country ?.This subject remained a topic of discussion last week over the election of CBI Director as Vice -President of the Interpol.Some of the senior officers were of the view that country has been elected and not an individual.The fact,however is that P C Sharma has been elected in the capacity of an individual for a period of three years.This is an honoray assignment.

Who would be the new IT Secretary of Karnataka ?

Vivek Kulkarni (1981 batch) batch has quit the IAS and his post has fallen vacant. The CM is busy in his
JANASPANDANA programme and has been considering the following names to replace the Engineer cum MBA from Wharton turned IAS offcer, Kulkarni. At the top of the list is G Gurucharan, (1982 batch) who is now Finance Secretary and has good grasp of the industry having worked as Commissioner for Industries. In addition he is a class mate of Nandan Nilekani of INFOSYS. Then there is Smt Ratnaprabha (1981 batch), who spent seven glorious years as Development Commissioner of Vizag Export Promotion Zone and has just returned to the State. The present Commissioner Industries K M Shivakumar (1978 bathc) may also get posted here by elevating the post to Principal Secretary grade. Finally the Harvard Professor Dr Anoop Poojary (1980
batch) may also jump to this post. The CM has noticed his handling the affairs of Mysore Sugar Factory (at
Mandya, the home district of the CM) and is keen to bring him to head the IT department.

Bureaucratic reshuffle on cards in Punjab !

Much awaited changes in Punjab might finally see the light soon. Grapevine has it that the DC's of Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Amritsar and Muktsar are likely to be changed in a day or two.DC Gurdaspur, K.A.P.Sinha is likely to be replaced too. Grapevine has it that the worthy bureaucrat's efficiency was an eye sore for ministers Pratap Bajwa and Raghunath Sahay Puri and not too much appreciated by them.However, K.A.P Sinha was also known to be in the good books of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and PS to CM, S K Sinha for his enterprising governance.Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Patiala, Sanjay Kumar is tipped to be the next Director- Local Government. Interestingly, Sanjay Kumar's straightforwardness and boldness was again not too much appreciated by Mayor Patiala, Vishnu Sharma. However, the 88 batch officer refused to buckle under any kind of political pressure or blackmail.DC Fatehgarh, S.K.Ahluwalia is tipped to be the hottest contender to replace Sanjay Kumar as the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Patiala.Secy, Medical Education, Satish Chandra might also be replaced.Secy Mandi Board, Venu Prasad might also have to see the red signal.

Menawhile the SSP's of Khanna, Patiala, Fatehabad and Tarn Taran are also tipped to be changed while DIG, Jalandhar, Dinkar Gupta might also be on his way out.

Manipur DGP Bimol Chandra Singh is superannuating on October 31.His successor has not yet been named.
