Mishra to be relieved next week ! B P Mishra is expected to join as ED of the IMF in the first week of next month. If sources in the North Block are to be believed then Mishra of the 1969 batch UT cadre IAS officer will be relieved next week. Singh to be PS to Bais B B Singh of the IRS is being appointed PS to Union Minister of State for Mines Ramesh Bais.He would succeed 1984 batch Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS officer P C Meena. Should bureaucrats serve in scientific departments ? Believe it or not several IAS officers have suffered at the hands of scientists for having the temerity to express their views freely and honestly in the affairs of the department which were against their personal interests or agenda not entirely relevant to the area of research in that department.Whispersinthecorridors.com has gathered that among those who have suffered during their deputation to scientific departments are Mssrs T N Seshan former Chief Election Commissioner, V Ranganathan (1965 batch),C S Chaddha (1966 batch) ,B K Saha (1967 batch),Ashok Kapur (1967 batch) and C K Koshy (1968 batch). Mumbai Police Commissioner to retire Mumbai Police Commissioner R S Sharma is superannuating next month end. He is 1968 batch IPS officer. Will Meena return to West Bengal ? Grapevine has it that Ram Das Meena is being repatriated to the parent West Bengal cadre. 1984 batch West Bengal cadre IAS officer Meena is currently Resident Commissioner to Chhattisgarh Government in Delhi. Gujral to continue ! While entire Chandigarh Administration is fluttering like a drenched bird ever since names of some UT cadre officers have cropped up for the coveted post of Advisor, grapevine has it that much of all this din is nothing but sheer brouhaha. 1968 batch officer, T Thomas Joseph whose name created quite a stir amongst local media in Chandigarh apparently seems to be ruled out as he is too senior to be sent as an Advisor. 1973 batch Pondicherry Chief Secretary, R. Padmanabhan projected as a hot contender by the local media is also ruled out as he has quite a major chunk of his tenure to be completed. For 1970 batch officer Baleshwar Rai, the grapevine offering that he would fancy a shot at the coveted post of UT advisor is also ambiguous as he has already been the Advisor in chandigarh almost 12 years back and coming back here after his present stint as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Labour would be quite a small move as well as a small deputation for him. It is believed that his chances of becoming the Chief Secretary, Delhi are also limited as Chief Minister Shiela Dixit is quite happy with current CS Shailja Chandra and if Congress comes back to power in Delhi, then Dixit-Chandra duo would continue. It is also rumoured that Baleshwar Rai might just want to stay in Delhi and sharpen his political network and contest the elections on a Congress ticket once he is through with his bureaucratic career.Lalit Sharma?.. whatever happened to Chief Secretary Arunachal Pradesh who , a couple of months back, was the hottest contender to replace Virender Singh?? Grapevine has it that the Government has not been able to find a replacement for him in Arunachal Pradesh. Rumour mill also churns out that Lalit Sharma is getting along great guns with the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister and his keenness to leave Arunachal and relocate in Chandigarh is also doubtful!! Therefore, for the moment it seems Haryana Cadre officer RS Gujral, the suave IIM pass out would stay put as Advisor in Chandigarh till the elections. Hope Chandigarh benefits from Gujral's able administrative and sharp managerial skills. |
