MEA has introduced mid-term training for the Indian Foreign Service officers at the level of Directors and Deputy Secretaries beginning with 1985 and 1992 batch onwards. But inspite of the opposition of DOPT,
MEA is insistent on grading officers undergoing this training for their next promotion. Can't MEA think of
something on the pattern already available for IAS officers in the country and bring uniformity. DOPT should take note of this.
