Three new JS level posts in GoI

Three new posts of Joint Secretary are being created in the Government of India. These include one each in the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and in the MHA.

S K Das gets posting

Sisir Kumar Das, IAS (KN:70) has been posted as Financial Adviser and ex-officio Additional Secretary in the Department of Space by temporarily downgrading the post of Secretary. The post was vacated by S.S. Meenakshisundaram, IAS (KN:68) on his retirement. Das will be concurrently Member, Atomic Energy Commission and Space Commission.

Committee to look into promotional avenues

The Union Home secretary is learnt to have constituted a committee to probe the reason behind the blockade in promotional avenues and delay in postings of the IPS at the senior level. The committee would include DG-CRPF and DG-CISF etc.

Sonia's observation is 100 per cent correct. There is no body to fix up responsibility of the erring officials. CSS rules mandate drawl of at least one select list of Deputy Secretary each year. Select Lists for the year 1995 onward are still to be brought out. None of the representations of the members of service has any effect on the authorities. Is there any other service where the position is like this? Will somebody look into the matter and fix responsibility for the lapse. It is noteworthy that there has been no stay, whatsoever, from any court any where in this matter.
