Roy is new Mumbai Police Commissioner

In a sudden move 1972 batch IPS officer A N Roy was appointed Police Commissioner of Mumbai on Wednesday. Dr P S Pashricha Mumbai Police Commissioner has been made MD of the Police Housing Corporation. The Commissioner, State Intelligence, V N Deshmukh, will take over in Pune, while Nagpur Police Commissioner Jayant Umranikar will replace Deshmukh. The Joint Director (Central Bureau of Investigation), West Zone, D Shivanandan, was promoted as ADGP and posted as Nagpur commissioner.

Grapevine has it that the local chapter of BJP in Chandigarh is plagued with internal fights and bickerings. Rumour Mill has it that former BJP MP from Chandigarh, Satya Pal Jain , who enjoys a good moral backing from Sushma Swaraj and Dy PM L K Advani is not accessible to majority party workers and think tanks, considering the facts that the elections are round the corner.Though Satya Pal Jain is supposedly trying hard to get the BJP ticket from Chandigarh, yet various strong challengers from within the party have cropped their heads to claim the L S ticket. Prominent among them are Dharam Pal Gupta, former BJP President -Chandigarh and Ms Ranjana Shahi, a former councilor. In the light of all these developments Congress might just want to make hay while the sun shines.
