The Minister of civil Aviation who was supposed to present his revised Civil Aviation Policy in Parliament on Wednesday and allow Private Domestic carriers to fly international routes, was rudely stopped by dissensions within the NDA and his own party.The employee Unions of Air India petitioned all the Shiv Sena & Opposition M.Ps and Cabinet Ministers to stop this move. It has been widely believed that due to the political influence wielded by the Jet airways-Naresh goel group and Sahara Group that Certain Cabinet Ministers were pushing for a major reform in this sector to allow International routes to these 2 private airlines before the Polls.The reason cited was domestic overcapacity of aircraftand airlines and International shortage and also the huge losses of jet and Sahara. Yet Air India and Indian Airlines aircraft purchase plan was shelved.
