Are there four power centres in Punjab police ?

So which is the real power yielding federation within Punjab Police nowadays ? If grapevine is to be believed then Punjab Police spins around not one but four different axis. Bureaucratic buzz echoes the clear division of the top brass of Punjab Police.On one end stands recently returned Warrior Champ of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, A.P.Pande as ADGP Vigilance and on the other end is the combine of ADGP Administration, Mohd Izhar Alam and IGP Headquarters, Sanjeev Gupta. The last few rounds of transfers in Punjab have edified the stature of IGP Headquarters as a powerful transfer authority for the transfers of "happening" and "promising" DSP's within the state.In the third corner, perhaps somewhere pinned down like a country rat, is the DGP of the state, A,A,Siddiqui, who finds himself to be in a position weaker than quite a many ADGP's of the state, prominent amongst them are ADGP Vigilance, A.P.Pande and ADGP Intelligence. S.S.Virk. So what axis should Punjab Police spin about? How about three months for each power group, that should take care of all the 12 months!!

IPS officers losing charm in Nagaland !

The Cadre posts as specified in the All India Cadre rules and fixation of cadre strength rules clearly specify that the Cadre posts meant for All India Service officers cannot be generally occupied by a non - cadre officer if one suitable cadre officer is available. The All India Service officers especially the IPS officers of the Nagaland cadre are suffering badly due to the apathy of the State Government. There are many IPS officers who are waiting for their proper postings while the state service officers are enjoying the district SP posts which are meant for the IPS officers.Interestingly, a senior IPS officer of the cadre on Central Deputation was asked to report back immediately as "they were facing shortage". Strangely the officer is still waiting for his posting orders for the last 3 months. The DGP being a local SPS officer doesn't seem to care about these. The morale of the young IPS officers is getting a beating due to this.

Abhyankar appointed Ambassador to Belgium

R M Abhyankar, secretary in the External Affairs ministry, has been appointed as India's Ambassador to Belgium. Abhyankar would also be concurrently accredited as the next Ambassador of India to the Commission of European Communities and the council of European Union with residence at Brussels. Kumar Singh, presently Ambassador of India to Belgium, has been appointed as the next envoy to Spain.

Rao takes over as ED BMTPC

DBN Rao has taken over as the Executive Director of Building Materials Technology Promotion Council
(BMTPC), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, GOI on 5th. He was earlier the DG of NCBM.TN Gupta retired at the age of 65.
