P L Singh retires

Finally Chairman of CBDT P L Singh did not get extension in service.He retired on Friday.Ms Shobha Majumdar is going to succeed Singh.

Major penalty advised against 191 officers

Based on the investigation reports submitted by the CBI and the Chief Vigilance Officers, the CVC has advised initiation of "major penalty" proceedings in 191 cases. They include 61 officers of public sector banks, 24 officers from Department of Telecom, 16 officers from Department of Defence Production and Supplies, 15 officers from ONGC, 14 officers from Ministry of Railways, 13 officers from insurance companies, 11 officers from Municipal Corporation of Delhi and 9 officers from Delhi Jal Board.

Quota of IAS officers in Chhattisgarh is reported to have been raised from 93 to 138.
