Will the next Cabinet Secretary be from 1967 batch ? Going by the past it seems that next would be turn of this batch. The Cabinet Secretaries in the past have been from alternate batches. Zafar Saifullah was from 1959 batch, TSR Subramaniam of 1961, Prabhat Kumar and TR Prasad were of 1963 batch and Kamal Pande is from 1965 batch.

Three ex-IPS are now MPs

Three ex IPS officers have been elected to the Lok Sabha. One is N N Meena 1969 batch Rajasthan cadre former IPS officer who has won on the Congress ticket.Second is Nikhil Kumar IPS (UT-1963) who retired as Spl Secy Home. He won from Aurangabad (Bihar) on the INC ticket defeating his nearest rival Sushil Kumar Singh JD(U)by a margin of 7460 votes. The third is Dr HT Sangliana (Karnataka-1967). He is a Mizo allotted to Karnataka cadre. He won from Bangalore North defeating C Jaffer Sharief, former Union Minister by a margin of 30,458 votes. Sangliana retired in July 2003 and joined the BJP.

Who will be Secretary to Karnataka Chief Minister ?

Who will be Secretary to the new Karnataka Chief Minister ?. Dr Anoop Poojary of 1980 batch (no relation of Janardan Poojary) or Ashok Dalawai of 1984 batch if either Congress or Janata Dal (S) has the CM. It is a coincidence that Poojary is from Orissa but is in Karnataka Cadre, whereas Dalawai is from Karnataka but is in Orissa cadre, who has now been on Inter-State deputation from Orissa to Karnataka for 7 long years. Ashok Dalawai is a Kuruba, the same community to which Janata Dal hopeful Siddaramaiah belongs. He has equally good chances if the CM is from Congress as both the leading contenders Dharam Singh (backward class) and Mallikarjun Kharge (SC) would be happy to have a Kuruba officer with them. In addition Dalawai was DC in Raichur in North Karnataka. In contrast, Anoop Poojary has worked for long in Gulbarga, the home district of Dharam Singh and Mallikarjun Kharge, he has also worked with Siddaramaiah in Finance Department. So if the choice is on caste basis, Dalawai stands a better chance (but has to get the nod of Government of India extending his deputation), and if it is on merit, Poojary may be picked up. If R V Deshpande becomes the CM, either Rakesh Singh (DC of North Kanara) or K N Srivastava (MD of Electricity Board) may become Secretary to CM.
