Who will be PS to Sonia Gandhi?

Who will be new PS to PM? Informed sources mention that Mrs.Sonia Gandhi is keen to have a mix of experience and youth as her key advisors. Following in the tradition of Rajiv Gandhi, she is keen to get some clean, dynamic new faces into her administration. Among the names being mentioned for the powerful post of Private Secretary to Prime Minister is that of Harvard MBA-educated Srivatsa Krishna, who is the topper of the 1994 batch. Krishna is well-liked by corporate India for his work in getting investments as a suave,straight-forward and dynamic bureaucrat. Another name doing rounds is that of Vincent George, the old loyalist of 10 Janpath to continue the tradition of R.K.Dhawan. George is keen to make a comeback and old party loyalists are lobbying for him. Whether IAS wins or the party only Mrs.Gandhi can tell.

Who will be Secretary to Karnataka Chief Minister ?

Who will be Secretary to the new Karnataka Chief Minister ?. Dr Anoop Poojary of 1980 batch (no relation of Janardan Poojary) or Ashok Dalawai of 1984 batch if either Congress or Janata Dal (S) has the CM. It is a coincidence that Poojary is from Orissa but is in Karnataka Cadre, whereas Dalawai is from Karnataka but is in Orissa cadre, who has now been on Inter-State deputation from Orissa to Karnataka for 7 long years. Ashok Dalawai is a Kuruba, the same community to which Janata Dal hopeful Siddaramaiah belongs. He has equally good chances if the CM is from Congress as both the leading contenders Dharam Singh (backward class) and Mallikarjun Kharge (SC) would be happy to have a Kuruba officer with them. In addition Dalawai was DC in Raichur in North Karnataka. In contrast, Anoop Poojary has worked for long in Gulbarga, the home district of Dharam Singh and Mallikarjun Kharge, he has also worked with Siddaramaiah in Finance Department. So if the choice is on caste basis, Dalawai stands a better chance (but has to get the nod of Government of India extending his deputation), and if it is on merit, Poojary may be picked up. If R V Deshpande becomes the CM, either Rakesh Singh (DC of North Kanara) or K N Srivastava (MD of Electricity Board) may become Secretary to CM.

President Kalam can make history
Dear Mr. Editor,

Our beloved President Abdul Kalam can make history by not allowing History to be made. He can refuse to swear in, as Prime Minister, a person who wasnot born in the country.True this will go against his constitutional duties but will remain very much in line with the moral values of many a trillion souls. Souls not onlyof people alive but also of those who have laid their lives for this great nation.
President Kalam can make history by "Resigning" from his position to sendthe message home. The day that happens will then be the true Independenceday for slave-country "India".Hoping for this final twist to unfurl in this historical election saga & tosee "India Unshackled.
