There is an urgent need of complete overhauling of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner's office. Grapevine has it that the officer-architects of these census data are hurrying for shelter elsewhere to avoid any formal or informal querry or enquiry. Vijayan Unni (IAS: 1969) in charge of 1991 census is cooling his heels in Kerala while his successor J K Baintia (IAS: 1974) in charge of 2001 census had to go after the Muslim population controversy. And others down the line are looking for UN population projects. After contaminating the national data they are venturing out to do the same in international forum! God save the world, if not India.
