Every year a very huge amount of public money is spent on sending of New Year greetings by high ranking public servants in government, boards and corporations. Almost all IAS and IPS officers in India do this at public cost. There is absolutely no justification for this. Public money is not meant for sending greetings to each other. Can the Prime Minister take a decision to stop this practice with immediate effect? CAG / AGs should be advised to keep a close eye on this type of misuse of government money. If this is done it will be one definite step towards reducing wasteful expenditure in government.
