Railway Board in blatant contravention of established rules of PESB for Board level appointments, apparently to manipulate the selection of an official not highly regarded for his integrity or performance, has now restricted the post of MD, Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation to officials from the Indian Railway Traffic Service only, in the process blocking eminent and proven tourism professionals. The first internal circular issued by the Board, on June 14, invited applications from all services but after receiving nine applications, the Board mysteriously decided to issue a fresh circular that narrows the zone of consideration. Such manoeuvres make a mockery of PM's recent statements about bringing transparency and professional approach in the working of PSU's. Will the PESB put its foot down on this blatantly illegal move or the move has its blessings?.

National Judicial Council to be set up

Government of India proposes to set a National Judicial Council to receive complaints against Judges and conduct investigation into such complaints. The Council will also see whether the complained is frivolous, vexatious or is not made in good faith.
