The dowry demanded by persons employed in these departments are astronomical. Ask the fathers of eligible marriageable daughters, how pitiable they find themselves to be in today's dowry market, irrespective of how good looking the girls are or how qualified they are. Grooms from the Revenue department bring with them, tons of money, huge social prestige through the power they enjoy in their day to day work and that too over most influential sections of our society apart from so many other perquisites associated with the job.
